Amitava C mailed that he plans to visit Washington to see the flowering cherry trees along the Potomac. The cherry blossom or “sakura” is a timeless symbolism of Japanese culture - how did it come to DC ? A quick internet search provides a fascinating story!

In '95, I read Preston's first of the Dark Biology series, a non-fiction called "Hot Zone". I spent hours going back and forth to the fact-ladened appendix. I suspect the book is partially responsible for my Darwinian view of humanity. Amongst other things, I learned about antibiotic abuse and have concern for India's roadside availability. Check Preston's URL above with his other thought provoking genere.
Have read excerpts from The Hot Zone and The Cobra Event. Unable to source both off the shelf, have ordered at Crosswrods.
Scary stuff...
